Exterior Detailing
Your vehicle is one of the best investment that you make to your passion, comfort and a status signature; it should be taken care of and protected. Just as important as keeping your car's interior clean, having a clean exterior is an essential part of up keep and preventive maintenance. A filthy exterior not only looks bad, but it can also create or contribute to your car look old and scrappy.

Exterior detailing involves cleaning and bringing a shine to the car's paint, chrome trim, windows, wheels, and tires. At Motoshines we use different products to do this, including detergents, detail clay, waxes, polishes, and a variety of applicators and special cloths.

The three main components of exterior car detailing are cleaning, polishing and protecting.

Cleaning refers to removing all foreign surface particles from exterior surfaces through the use of washing and claying. A clay bar helps to clean contamination/dirt from within the clearcoat that cannot be removed through weekly washing such as bugs, tar, sap, etc.

Polishing refers to using mechanical polishes by hand or with a machine and specific polishing pads that remove micrometers of clearcoat from a vehicle to remove fine scratches and swirls from a paint surface produced from improper washing or drying technique.

Protecting involves the application of a protective wax (in liquid or paste form) that prevents foreign matter from adhering to the surface of the vehicle, including water, bugs splatter, tar, and dirt. Waxes and sealants provide this barrier against the elements.

Benefits of Exterior Detailing:
  • Warranted against loss of gloss, fading, discoloration & oxidation,
  • Prevents damage from U.V. rays, tree sap, industrial fallout, etc
  • Water “sheets” vs. beads to reduce water spotting and etching,
  • Creates a brilliant and deep “wet look” shine.
The Major Steps involved in Exterior Detailing :

WASHING YOUR CAR: At Motoshines we use quality car wash mitts, car wash shampoos, microfiber drying towels and a few other important tools as well as a trained force of detailers. By following the correct detailing process we know how to wash your car in a manner that gets it clean and reduces the chances of your instilling swirls in your paint.

CLAYING YOUR CAR: Clay quickly and easily removes most forms of paint contamination that is not removed with your normal car wash process. Clay will remove contaminants like insects, tar, stubborn road grime, exhaust soot, oxidation, pollen, light paint overspray, factory fallout and more!

POLISHING YOUR CAR: The first step in polishing is the serious defect removal such as random isolated scratches, heavy swirl, severe oxidation, stubborn water etching and other difficult to remove paint defects.
The second step is for minor defect removal including swirl, fine isolated scratches, water spots, mild water etching, light oxidation and other less severe paint finish defects.
And in the third step, paint perfection is done to clean your paint and enhance gloss so you can achieve that desired deep, wet looking shine.

PROTECTING YOUR CAR'S PAINT: First of all let's start with the confusion many have with the difference between waxes, protectants and sealants.
Basically they all fall into the same category and while some do a much better job than others they all do the same thing and that is to enhance gloss and protect your finish.
When it comes down to a traditional wax like your father or grandfather used vs. a newer synthetic protectant or sealant that we at Motoshines use has won. While the traditional wax does protect and enhance gloss the newer protectants and sealants do a much better job and last much longer.

STEAMING YOUR CAR: At Motoshines we Steam Wash your Car to perk up your car’s looks because it uses heat to soften dirt that cannot be removed easily by soap and blasts away stubborn dirt, mud and grime from the surface better than soapy water or chemical agents.
